Rahul Sadasivan
Rahul Sadasivan, a Malayalam filmmaker and screenwriter, has made a significant impact in Malayalam cinema with his unconventional style and complex narratives, especially in the horror genre. Born in Palakkad, Kerala, Rahul studied filmmaking at the London Film Academy and later earned a master's degree in animation and VFX from the University of South Wales. Rahul debuted with "Red Rain" (2013), a science fiction film inspired by the red rain phenomenon in Kerala. Although the film gained a cult following among genre enthusiasts, it didn't achieve mainstream success. His next venture, "Bhoothakaalam" (2022), was a direct-to-streaming horror thriller that garnered national attention for its atmospheric storytelling and intricate themes. Rahul's latest film, "Bramayugam" (2024), marks a departure from his previous work by blending folklore with horror in a period drama set in 17th-century Malabar. The film, shot entirely in black and white, features Mammootty in a powerful negative role and has been widely praised for its immersive setting, compelling performances, and unique visual approach. "Bramayugam" has been both a critical and commercial success, further establishing Rahul Sadasivan as a distinctive voice in Indian cinema.
